Operations Coordinator
The Craftsbury Outdoor Center is seeking an Operations Coordinator. Applicants should be familiar with and comfortable in a horizontal team-based organization and should have an understanding and appreciation of COCs three-pronged mission. Required attributes include: strong communication skills, experience with facility management, interest in outdoor recreation and experience implementing sustainable practices.
Areas of responsibility include:
Food and Lodging business oversight and coordination:
Kitchen & Dining Hall
Front office
Housekeeping
Reservations and rates
Guest services
Working with these departments/teams to facilitate decision-making, communication and coordinated operations.
Serve as a clearinghouse for purchases and expenses
Assist team leaders in managing department or program-level budgets.
Support maintenance team in planning for maintenance of COC’s buildings and campus.
Work with board and finance team to oversee operational budget for the entire COC.
Work with teams and COC Sustainability Coordinator to maintain and improve sustainable practices

About the Craftsbury Outdoor Center
The non-profit Craftsbury Outdoor Center is a community hub for outdoor sports programming and a training center for elite athletes. It is also a destination for summer and winter sports, complete with lodging and dining.
The mission of the COC is:
1. to support and promote participation and excellence in lifelong sports with a special focus on rowing, XC skiing, biathlon and running;
2. to use and teach sustainable practices; and
3. to protect and manage the surrounding land, lake and trails.
The Craftsbury Outdoor Center seeks to provide all staff with a positive, collaborative work environment, access to free fitness classes and outdoor recreation on-site, and healthy, delicious, family-style lunches daily.

Lead Cook
Craftsbury Outdoor Center (COC) is a community-focused athletic training facility and outdoor destination. In the dining hall, we provide nutrient-dense meals with locally sourced ingredients to the skiers, runners, cyclists, rowers, etc. who fill our accommodations year-round.
General job description
The right candidate will find themselves working with a diverse team and working with some of the best ingredients in the area to provide a quality dining experience for athletes and other guests and staff.
Major duties and responsibilites
Following ServSafe, Vermont Department of Health and HAACP guidelines to ensure food prepared meets safety and quality standards.
Leading a group of 3-7 food service team members during a meal shift to ensure all aspects of meal preparation service are completed to quality and safety standards.
Some baking required. Basic understanding of dietary restrictions such as gluten-free diets, vegan diets, and allergen restrictions.
Maintaining clean work space and tools, including serving utensils, surfaces, cutting boards, cooking equipment and dishes.
Ability to read and execute recipes.
Ordering when necessary to assist the kitchen leader. Assisting the kitchen leader with meeting deadlines and facilitating communication between management and staff.
Regularly maintaining awareness of surroundings and adding missing products to 86 lists.
Ensuring a clean and appealing dining space including tables, coffee area, steam tables, salad bar, chairs and floors.
Any other reasonable tasks assigned by the kitchen leader including processing raw ingredients, organization tasks.
Attending staff meetings as required to facilitate open communication amongst kitchen staff.
Minor duties and responsibilities
Maintaining personal hygiene.
Keeping hair restrained and hands clean and observing proper glove use.
Restricting phone usage to emergencies and work-related business.
Qualifications for the job
Education:
High school diploma or GED
Experience:
3 years in a related field, but willing to train the right candidate. Ability to handle knives and other potentially hazardous kitchen equipment is a must.
Key competencies
Respect, willingness to learn, and food safety.
Physical requirements
Must be able to stand for several hours. Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
Other:
Good interpersonal communication skills are a plus. Ability to communicate respectfully and honestly is a must. Arriving on time and dressed appropriately for the job is non-negotiable.

“People Person”/HR Coordinator

Craftsbury Outdoor Center (COC) is seeking to hire a People Person. In addition to normal HR tasks and admin, this person would help keep our collaborative, team-based structure working smoothly and happily. Applicants should be familiar with and comfortable in a horizontal team-based organization and should have an understanding and appreciation of COC’s three-pronged mission. Required skills include strong communication skills, ability to facilitate group discussions and meetings and experience with HR and benefits administration.
Areas of responsibility include:
Working to ensure that the COC is a positive, supporting, productive workplace. Helping to instill a sense of teamwork and community among staff.
Organizing in-house staff benefits, including occasional events and gatherings.
