Training week of 6/23
EVERYONE:
The training plan is here.
Don’t forget to fill out the attendance form.
First week of the summer schedule! Pay extra attention to practice start times, days, etc.
It gets HOT this week! Be prepared and be smart about listening to your body.
Registration for summer programs: we’re shutting this down for realz soon. July 1. DO IT via your Craftsbury membership portal.
JUNIORS:
Last hard week of this block. Two interval sessions and a big Sunday OD this week, then next week is an easy one. You can do it!
We’ve hidden hours from the training plan, except on the days you’re not with us at practice. This is on purpose. A lot of people on our team right now seem to be training down to the minute, even if they’re cooked at the end of practice. This is (a) not the way to keep you excited about skiing in the long-term, and (b) not making you faster.
Sunday Beaver Meadow hike: you can take the van from COC @ 7:45am, or meet us at the Beaver Meadow trailhead at 8:30am. Bring a way to comfortably carry water/snacks/a layer/etc. Our shorter routes should get back to the vans around 11:30am; our longer groups closer to 12:30pm. Vans are tied to longer groups; expected return to COC is ~1:30pm. Pack a lunch for after, a towel, change of clothes, trail snacks, etc.
Team nutrition/fueling talks this summer: “How do I make sure I/my athlete is getting enough food to support all this training?!” We are lucky to have a GRP/COC dietician on staff to help answer this question. Megan Chacosky is scheduled to give a few nutrition talks to the team this summer, some of which are for parents + athletes, some for just athletes. We want EVERYONE to try to make these. Virtual/recorded versions can be made available - let us know if those are of interest. We’ll send out reminders with more specific discussion topics as dates approach.
Sunday, 7/6 @ 11:00am: Activities Center
Friday, 7/25 @ 11:15am: Activities Center
Friday, 8/8 @ 11:15am: Activities Center
CommRow: leaving these links here for folks who wanna do it. Juniors can participate in our Community Rowing program for a very discounted rate. To take part, get a $50 “beginner CommRow pass” here (unlimited uses for the remainder of the season) and then sign up for Thursday rowing sessions as desired in the “classes” part of the membership portal. This is a special thing for CSC junior skiers only. Adults are of course welcome to do CommRow, too, at the regular rate.
Spring meetings: at this point, if you haven’t done one, reach out to us.
U14s:
Practice days shift this week—please take note!
See notes above re: Sunday’s workout at Beaver Meadow with the juniors.
BKL:
On foot again this week! And if you’re at BKL camp with us Mon-Fri, consider skipping Thursday practice. You will be so tired!
BIATHLETES:
Full summer schedule mode. See the training plan for practice times moving forward through end of August — big kids go a bit later on Wednesday as coaches are tied up with other groups in the morning.
ADULTS/MASTERS:
Keep on cranking, y’all.

Cupcakes make good training snacks, unless you’re Hazel (the dog).
