Training week of 2/17

EVERYONE:

  1. Attendance form keep it up, y’all.

  2. “When do programs wrap up?” Mid-March. Exact dates coming soon. We’re lucky to not be limited by snow!

JUNIORS:

  1. Congrats on wrapping up the Eastern Cup season! Nothing to sneeze at in normal conditions, and this weekend was wild. Good job being adaptable and patient today.

  2. Different events —> different training needs. Y’all are about to go many different directions: states, U16, EHS, JNs, etc. We will try to think of training that fits everyone’s needs but we will inevitably miss something. Be smart and advocate for yourselves!

  3. SuperTour Finals: this is a high-level event (it’s kinda the spring version of US Nationals, and actually the happening in Lake Placid at the end of March. More info here. Anna and Audrey are already going to wax for the GRP and would consider taking a handful of juniors along. This event is only really appropriate for those U18s who are headed for JNs or were near-misses. Whether or not you’re racing, it could be fun to go over (no team travel for spectating—on your own) for the weekend races and cheer! Usually there are some World Cup skiers there and rumor has it there may even be some Norwegians coming over.

  4. Invoicing: we will catch up on invoicing from the Eastern Cups this week. if you’ve gone on trips with us or had us wax your skis and are not registered as the full-time junior option, PLEASE check your spam, etc., for invoices from Concrete Foundation. Chasing down payment from y’all sucks up time that would be better spent actually coaching.

  5. Training logs: if you keep one, update it sometime maybe please?

U14s:

  1. Great work at Middle School States! You crushed it.

  2. March 1-2 (Sat-Sun): BKL Fest at Quarry Rd. in Waterville, ME. Ollie and Rick will be going to wax skis and support you!

BKL:

  1. Bill’s Blastoff was so much fun for us—hope you had fun, too!

  2. March 1-2 (Sat-Sun): BKL Fest at Quarry Rd. in Waterville, ME. Ollie and Rick will be going to wax skis and support you!

BIATHLETES:

  1. Cold Weather? Look for us in the Event Barn if it is crazy windy and single digits.

  2. Exciting stuff is happening for Team USA at World Championships in Lenzerheide Switzerland! Watch replays here. (check out the men’s Sprint and Pursuit)

  3. No Sunday Practices! It’s our home race- the Bayley-Hazen Biathlon Race!. Race is FULL but we encourage everyone to come watch and cheer on the club!

  4. JRs/U14s:

    • Wednesday: Practice will be combos as part of ski practice. Meet at the range at 3:30pm.

    • Sign up to race Eastern Club Championships which we’ll hold at the end of the season March 22 & 23. Info here.

  5. Looking Ahead: Likely no biathlon practices Sunday, March 2. Our staff will be spread in all sorts of directions helping at the BKL Festival, World Junior Championships and everywhere in between.

ADULTS/MASTERS:

  1. No Thursday Comp masters due to a comp masters coaching shortage thanks to the high school state meet!

Or this clunky embedded version:

The last Eastern Cup of the season was canceled due to high winds. We saw for ourselves how ridiculous it was at the venue!

The BKL racing circuit visited Whoville (aka the snow pit) on Saturday.
