Biathlon lessons are available to individuals and groups of all abilities, ages 10 and up. Lessons are approximately one hour long and are taught by our experienced biathlon coaches from our ski club staff or by elite athletes who race for our Green Racing Project. Lessons may be given on skis or on foot depending on the season, snow condition, and your preference. During biathlon lessons we focus on shooting and range skills; for ski technique guidance we recommend you book a ski lesson through the touring center.
Lesson Types
A Basic Lesson includes an introduction to the sport of biathlon, rifle safety briefing, and a focus on basic shooting skills such as sight alignment and trigger squeeze. You will get a chance to try live fire shooting in the prone (lying down) position. We will provide a rifle and ammunition. If you need skis, plan to rent them through the touring center (ski rental pricing here.)
An Advanced Lesson* is intended for biathletes with some prior experience and can be tailored to your needs. New biathletes should sign up for a basic lesson before taking an advanced lesson.
A Rifle Fitting Lesson* is recommended for individuals who own their own biathlon rifle and are looking for help in optimizing its fit.
*An active US Biathlon membership or Biathlon Canada membership is required in order to shoot from the standing position on our range.
Booking
Due to variable instructor availability, lessons must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. We generally don’t know our instructor availability more than one month out.
