Long time Craftsbury biathlete Bjorn Westervelt recently won the USBA Youth and Junior National Team Trials at Soldier Hollow. Winners of these National Trials will represent Team USA at the Youth and Junior Biathlon World Championships also in Soldier Hollow, February 21 to March 3, 2022.

Westervelt won all three days of the trials, sweeping the 10k sprint, 10k pursuit and 7.5k sprint. After several handy victories, the sprint was a nailbiter. Westervelt needed to lean more heavily on ski speed after a tough second shooting stage, holding on to edge his competition by only 5 seconds! See full results.

Bjorn’s triple gold medal performance sealed his spot on the USBA Junior World Championship Team, his fourth year representing team USA at Youth and Junior Biathlon World Championships.
