Earlier this summer, GRP athlete Caitlin Patterson qualified for World Mountain Running Championships via a successful finish at the US Mountain Running Championships in Cranmore, NH. This past weekend, she traveled over to Italy to start prepping for the race, which will be on Sunday, July 30th.

Part of her prep included jumping into the Dolomites Skyrace Vertical Kilometer (VK), on July 21st in Canazei, Italy. A vertical kilometer is exactly what it sounds like, an uphill running race that gains 1000m of elevation. Even with jetlag, adjusting to altitude, and starting in a non-seeded wave, Patterson was able to finish 14th in the women's VK with a time of 45:41.

She will now travel and train in Italy until the 30th, where she'll compete alongside international racers and 3 other US women in World Championships. Stay tuned for results!
