GRP Rowers to Race at 51st Head of the Charles Regatta

This year marks the 51st Head of the Charles Regatta (Head of the Charles Regatta)

The upcoming 51st Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston this weekend features 6 Craftsbury Green Racing Project entries and 14 athletes.

The action begins Saturday with Coach and Sculling Director Troy Howell racing in the Men’s Senior Master Singles (40+) at 12:03 p.m. He will be the eighth rower to cross the starting line in the event.

The next GRP event, the Men’s Championship Double, will include last year’s silver medalists, Tom and Peter Graves (Cincinnati, Ohio) and last years bronze medalist Willy Cowles (Farmington, Connecticut) rowing with Potomac’s Sam Stitt. The Graves will go off with bow number one, with Cowles and Stitt following right behind as bow number two. They race at 3:33 p.m.

Six GRP rowers will compete in the Men’s Championship Single at 4:24 p.m. Ben Dann (Pound Ridge, New York) is rowing with bow number four, John Graves (Cincinnatti, Ohio) is bow number eight, Erik Frid (Madbury, New Hampshire) is bow number nine, Parker Washburn (Andover, Massachusetts) is bow number 18, Ben Davison (Durham, England) is bow number 21, and Andrew Reed (Wayland, Massachusetts) is bow number 22.

Finishing up Saturday is the Women’s Championship Single. GRP scullers Maggie Fellows (Warwick, Massachusetts) will be the ninth woman to go down the course, with Maddie Lips (Parker, Colorado) following behind with bow number 14.

Sunday’s action will feature last year’s Lightweight Men’s Single Champion, Hugh McAdam (Hollis, New Hampshire). Rowing with bow number one, he will be going for the repeat win in the event. McAdam goes off at 11:53 a.m.

Ending the weekend for the GRP is the Directors Challenge Men’s Quad at 12:56 p.m. The Graves double and the Cowles, Stitt double will join forces to make the four-man boat. They are bow number one in the event.
