"How long can I ski?": Spring '22 trail status

Definitely spring-y snow! (25 Mar picture from Tamarack House)

Shoulder seasons are always the most dynamic for Craftsbury and centers like us. Sports and seasons overlap (sometimes even in the same day), and it can be tough to keep track of what's in season or not. (Hint: check out conditions on the dashboard!)

Skiing:

March 27 is the last day of services in the ski shop and regular grooming at Craftsbury. Keith will work to preserve something for the Mud n'Ice race on Saturday, April 2, but any skiing will be unsupported and at your own risk after Sunday.

Walking, running and mountain biking:

On-campus trails -  both singletrack and ski trails are closed for any of these uses. We're as eager as anyone to get out and get going again on the campus trails, but they need to get cleaned up and dry out. Stay tuned as always to current conditions at craftsbury.com/dashboard

Off-campus ski trails - Like the fall, if the trail isn't snow-covered and groomed, the trail isn't open to day-users or annual members. The only ski trails that allow year-round access (when clear and dry) are those immediately around the Center itself

  • This respects landowner agreements. We cross over 100 generous landowners property, without whom much of the trail network couldn't exist. (Thanks landowners!)

  • This prevents damage to the trail. Much of the land is still sopping wet, easily damaged by feet or wheels.

It's a great time to safely re-acquaint yourself with local roads and paths while the trails dry out.

Thanks so much for another great winter - even if it wasn’t as long and snowy as we may like, it was a pleasure to share it with all of you! Hope to see you again soon when things warm up.
