2025 U23 Summer Scullers

You’ve probably already seen these friendly faces around campus but we wanted to give this summer’s U23 rower squad a more formal introduction. These 13 college athletes are here for a few months to improve their sculling, step up their fitness, and contribute to the Craftsbury community.

JP Denfeld

I’m from Mount Vernon, NY and am currently studying political science and history at George Washington University. I am excited to be at Craftsbury to develop my sculling skills in a competitive environment, benefiting from excellent coaching and resources while contributing to the Craftsbury community.

Jane Doyle

I am from New York City, and I just graduated from Holy Cross with a degree in studio art on the premed track. I’m looking forward to competing in summer racing, fine-tuning my small boat skills, and contributing to Craftsbury’s mission of sustainability.

Manon Field

I grew up in Hudson, Wisconsin, and currently attend the University of Minnesota where I am studying cellular and organismal physiology and minoring in Spanish and public health. This summer I am excited to be part of the Craftsbury GRP program to improve my small-boat skills and transfer them to my collegiate program, but also explore the world of elite level rowing! I am also particularly interested  in Craftsbury's approach to sustainability in life: developing habits, skills and practices that steward care for the environment and also the ability to communicate that with my home rowing community; as well as sustainability in sport - learning how to transform a passion for rowing into a lifelong pursuit, past my collegiate experience.

Evan Gold

My name is Evan Gold, I am from Palo Alto, California, I am majoring in molecular biology, and I am excited to learn to scull while spending time with new friends and crafting Adirondack chairs.

Ben Harper

I’m from Westerville, OH, and am a biology major at Marietta College. I’m excited to be able to train and race with the highest level of sculling competition in the U.S. while being apart of a sustainable program like Craftsbury.

Conor Kelly

My name is Conor Kelly, and I am from Las Vegas. I attend Boston University and major in economics. I am excited to learn from the world-class coaches and explore the beautiful state of Vermont. This summer, I aim to become a more experienced racer in small boats and to hopefully make a grand final at Canadian Henley!

Kate MacBryde

I’m from St. Louis, Missouri, and I attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I’m majoring in economics and communications. At Craftsbury, I’m looking forward to developing my small boat skills and am excited to contribute to Craftsbury’s sustainability efforts.

Daniel Malecki

I'm from Oakland, California and I am an economics major at Boston University. I'm looking forward to spending time in small boats, especially coming from my university program that primarily races eights. I'm also looking forward to racing and staying competitive during the summer. Last, but certainly not least, I'm excited to learn about and contribute to the sustainability efforts here at Craftsbury that make it such an amazing place!

Cecily Shaber

I am from Peachtree City, Georgie and attend Duke University, studying neuroscience. I raced eights, fours, and quads for most of my rowing campaign, so the small boats we do in the GRP present me with a new challenge. I’m excited that I get to become way better at sculling while simultaneously learning skills I can transfer to big boats. This kind of versatility is important not only so I can give my best to my team at Duke, but also for my future national team pursuits.

Tatum Swanwick

I am from Olathe, Kansas and attend Boston University where I’m majoring in mechanical engineering. This summer at Craftsbury I am of course looking forward to training in small boats and getting more experience on the water, but I am also excited to help around the Center. I am excited to meet everyone that helps run Craftsbury and make it so special and gain their knowledge in things I otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to do!

Sam van Adrichem Boogaert

I am from Ridgewood, New Jersey, and I will be a junior at Skidmore College. I'm majoring in environmental science and have a history minor. I'm looking forward to rowing with all the GRP athletes and helping around the Outdoor Center.

Wesley Walker

I’m from Charlotte, North Carolina. I began my rowing career at Choate Rosemary Hall in CT and now am apart of the Dartmouth heavyweight team. I’ve been coming to Craftsbury since 2023 when I was a camper. I’m currently planning on majoring in electrical engineering and I’m excited to continue developing in the single. In my free time I like to cook with friends.

Dallas Watson

I am originally from North Manchester, Indiana. I rowed at Orange Coast College before transferring to Colby, where I now am majoring in economics with a concentration in financial markets. I want to develop in sculling but also want to grow as a person, so I am really excited to meet cool people and split a lot of wood!
