2022 Genny Tenny Results

Men’s podium, 2022 Genny Tenny (L-R): winner Owen Deffner, 2nd Maxfield English, 3rd Peter Rentzepis.

Warm early fall weather greeted participants in the 2022 Genny Tenny. Despite the warmth and humidity, the runners linked the two General Stores to raise funds for the Albany Community Trust, an organization “dedicated to supporting positive growth and increased vibrancy in Albany, VT.”  In 2021, ACT completed their first community project, the revival of the Albany General Store.

Starting at the Craftsbury Genny, the race course took runners for a long steady climb along Creek Road, before finally veering left onto Page Pond Road. Soon enough, runners faced the steep ascent up Pitkin Road. At the top, runners found themselves on a class 4 road, a real treat that wound its way through the heavily shaded forest. The course ended with a long steep descent along Center Hill Road, with a festive finish at the Albany Genny in the heart of the Albany Village.

Post-race, all participants enjoyed pizza and still-warm chocolate chip cookies made by the Albany General Store. The overall podium finishers won handcrafted cutting boards made by Craftsbury junior skier, Sam Dunn. Age group winners took home delicious prizes of Hillside Farm apple cider or Kittredge’s maple syrup donated by ACT board members. Racers also received a take-home gift of peanut, almond, and cashew butters made by Craftsbury GRP rower, Luke Rein.

Finally, ACT board members Kristen Fountain and Sonya Kitteridge joined the finish celebrations to personally thank the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, the Genny, the volunteers, and all runners for their support of the Albany Community Trust. They have several projects on the horizon that will be completed through the help of funds raised by this community race.
